A proposed reading, and questions about its evidence.
A small codex with a proposed decipherment.

The question behind Rohonc Codex
The Hungarian Academy’s library records this illustrated manuscript as K 114 and traces its arrival from the Rohonc Batthyány library in 1838. Levente Zoltán Király and Gábor Tokai published a proposed decipherment in 2018. Klaus Schmeh’s account notes both expert support and doubts; it would be misleading to treat the codex as simply untouched by a solution. This preview invites careful reading of the proposal and its reception, rather than promising a new key.
