The question behind Phaistos Disc
The Phaistos Disc has signs impressed in spirals on both faces. Maurizio Del Freo’s specialist guide explains that its find context was disturbed, making precise dating difficult. With no comparable inscription established, proposed readings cannot be checked against a larger corpus in the usual way. The disc invites questions about method as much as about meaning.
