The question behind Linear A
Linear A was used in Bronze Age Crete and elsewhere in the Aegean, for accounts and other short inscriptions. Ester Salgarella’s overview describes an undeciphered script recording a poorly understood language. Short, formulaic and often damaged texts limit what can be inferred. A repeated pattern may suggest a question to test on other texts; it does not, by itself, establish a translation.
